Abu Dhabi Courts: Your Complete Guide

Planning to visit Abu Dhabi Courts in Abu Dhabi? Let me be your local guide to this destination.

The Abu Dhabi Courts complex represents a remarkable architectural achievement harmonizing Islamic and civil law traditions. Located on Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street, this sophisticated judicial facility houses three major state courts and serves as the centerpiece of Abu Dhabi's judicial system.

Facilities & Courts

The complex accommodates the Court of Appeal, Court of Cassation, and Court of First Instance—three pillars of Abu Dhabi's legal framework. The facility spans approximately 110,000 square meters of purpose-built space designed with the highest international standards for judicial proceedings. The design integrates functional efficiency with cultural significance, featuring courtrooms, offices, theater facilities, support buildings, and extensive parking.

Architectural Significance

Designed with deep cultural considerations, the courts building incorporates three interconnected design axes: a religious axis aligning Sharia'a courts with Qibla direction, a social axis engaging with the urban fabric, and a functional axis ensuring operational efficiency. The interior features Quranic inscriptions and marble finishes reflecting the integration of Islamic legal principles with contemporary judicial practice.

Location & Access

The courts are situated in Khalifa City A sector, approximately 12-15 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi. Public transportation reaches the facility via buses 34 and 52, with a 3-minute walk from Street 12 / Abu Dhabi Courts bus stop.

Visitor Information

The courts are functional judicial facilities with limited public access outside of official business. However, the building's architectural design makes it worth viewing as a landmark. Casual visitors should note that access is restricted to those with legitimate legal proceedings.

Photography

The building's contemporary design with Islamic architectural elements provides significant photo opportunities. The exterior grounds and approach areas offer the best perspectives for photography without interfering with judicial operations.
