During the holy month of Ramadan, Doha's streets come alive in the evenings with a unique spiritual and social atmosphere. To make it easier for residents and visitors to partake in Iftar gatherings, Taraweeh prayers, and late-night bazaars, Doha Metro & Lusail Tram typically introduces special travel passes.
Here’s what has been offered in past years, and what we know so far.
Update, October 2026: In Ramadan 2026 the Metro ran 5:30 AM to 1:30 AM Saturday to Thursday and 9:30 AM to 1:30 AM on Friday (Qatar Tribune, February 2026). We found no announcement of a discounted Ramadan pass in 2026. Ramadan 2027 is expected to start in February 2027; we’ll update this page when Qatar Rail announces its plans.
🌙 The Ramadan Weekly Pass
One of the most popular offers is the Ramadan Weekly Pass. This pass provides exceptional value for regular commuters or those planning to travel frequently during a specific week in Ramadan.
Key Details:
- Cost: QR 30
- Validity: Unlimited rides on both the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram for seven consecutive days.
- Availability: In 2024 it was sold throughout Ramadan, from March 11 to April 11 (The Peninsula).
This pass is a fantastic option for those who rely on the metro for their daily commute to work or for attending various events across the city. It has not been offered every year, so check the Qatar Rail app as Ramadan approaches. Outside Ramadan the regular weekly pass costs QR 40.
🎟️ The Ramadan Day Pass
For a single day of unlimited travel, the regular Day Pass costs QR 6 in Standard class, all year round. A standard travel card also stops charging after QR 6 in a day, so you get the same cap without buying a pass. In some past years a special-edition Ramadan Day Pass was sold as well.

- Where to Buy: The Ramadan passes are typically available for purchase at the Travel Card vending machines located at all Doha Metro and Lusail Tram stations.
- Activation: The pass is activated on its first use, so you can buy it in advance and start your seven days of travel whenever you're ready.
- Stay Updated: Check qr.com.qa or the Qatar Rail app in the weeks before Ramadan for that year's hours and any special passes.
