Bus to The Avenues Mall, Kuwait: Bus Numbers and Routes

The Avenues is Kuwait's biggest shopping mall, on the 5th Ring Road between Al Rai and Shuwaikh. This guide lists the buses that stop there, which bus number to take from your area, and what to expect on fares and timings. New to Kuwait's buses? Start with our beginner's guide.

1. Which bus goes to The Avenues?

Confirmed in our route data: Airport Express X4

The X4 stops at The Avenues on its way between Riqqai and the airport, and it runs 24 hours. It is the only route in our data with a stop at the mall. The table below is built from the same route data as our X4 route page, so it updates when the data does.

CityBus A-series routes (not yet in our data)

CityBus has listed four mall routes that run to The Avenues. We have not yet checked their current stop lists against an official timetable, and third-party listings of them disagree in places, so confirm in the CityBus app or website before you travel.

Bus to The Avenues from Fahaheel, Mahboula or Mangaf

The X4 does not serve these areas. Your options are the CityBus A4 (listed as running from Fahaheel through Mangaf and Mahboula to the mall), or a change: route 40 runs from Fahaheel to Khaitan, Farwaniya and Shuwaikh, where you can change to the X4.

Bus to The Avenues from Farwaniya or Khaitan

The X4 stops at Farwaniyah Co-Op, Farwaniyah Police Station, Khaitan and Khaitan Park, so you can ride to The Avenues without changing. CityBus also lists the A2 for this area. For every other bus in the area, see bus to Farwaniya and bus to Khaitan.

2. Fares, tickets and payment

Fares are low, but they depend on the operator and change from time to time, so check before you travel.

3. Timings and planning

• No published timetables. KPTC does not publish timings, and CityBus lists routes but not exact times. Allow extra time, especially for the return trip in the evening.
• Late at night, the X4 is your best option, because the Airport Express routes run 24 hours.
• Live tracking: the CityBus app shows bus positions, but many riders find Google Maps just as useful for planning.

4. Tips for a smooth trip

Plan for the heat

Summer temperatures can pass 50°C and most bus stops have little shade. Check where your bus is before you leave the mall, and wait inside until it is close.

Expect a slower trip than by car

Buses stop often and traffic around the 5th Ring Road is heavy at peak times. If you need to arrive at a fixed time, a taxi or ride-hailing app is faster.

Each operator sells its own tickets

There is no shared ticket between KPTC and CityBus. If you change between them, you pay again.
