Yas Island by Bus: Buses to Yas Mall and Ferrari World, and the Free Yas Express

Getting to Yas Island by public transport takes two steps: a public bus from Abu Dhabi to the island, then the free Yas Express shuttle between the hotels and attractions.
Public buses to Yas Island
Wikipedia's Abu Dhabi route list (June 2025) has four routes that serve Yas Island (Wikipedia):

From the city centre, the 187 to Yas Mall is the most direct. The 184 starts at Abu Dhabi Central Bus Station and goes by way of Saadiyat Island.

The free Yas Express
Once you're on the island, the Yas Express shuttles are free, and run every day (Visit Abu Dhabi):

The Y1 and Y2 stop at Ferrari World, Yas Mall, Clymb, Yas Waterworld and Warner Bros. World, from 9 AM to 11:35 PM. The Y3 runs to Yas Beach, Yas Marina and Yas Marina Circuit from 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM. The National also lists SeaWorld among the Yas Express stops (The National, September 2026).
Sources don't agree on the details. Property Finder's January 2026 timetable swaps the Y1 and Y2 starting points, describes the Y3 as an on-demand group service, and adds a Y4 loop via Yas Bay and Masdar City. It also says you board by showing a ticket for a Yas Island attraction or a hotel voucher (Property Finder). Check the current timetable at your hotel or a Yas information desk.
So for Ferrari World, take a public bus to Yas Mall, then the Y1 or Y2.
From the airport
There's no direct public bus from Zayed International Airport to Yas Island in our data or in Wikipedia's route list. Property Finder lists a Yas Express airport shuttle (Y5) to the Yas Island hotels, with a few departures a day. Ask your hotel whether it still runs. Otherwise a taxi is the simplest way. By bus, take the A10 towards MBZ City or another airport bus to the city, and change there, using Darbi to plan the connection. See the Abu Dhabi airport bus guide.
By Etihad Rail
The National suggests taking Etihad Rail to Mohamed Bin Zayed City station, then a taxi or ride-hailing car to Yas Island, about 30 to 40 minutes and AED 50 to 70. There's no rail shuttle bus to Yas (The National).
Fares
Abu Dhabi public buses charge AED 2 when you board plus 5 fils a kilometre, up to AED 5 a trip, paid with a Hafilat card. The Yas Express is free.
