Karwa Bus Guide: How to Ride the Bus in Doha
How to ride a Karwa bus in Doha, step by step: card, app, tapping in and out, fares and useful routes.
Doha's Karwa buses, run by Mowasalat, are a cheap way around the city, with fares from QAR 3. Here's how to ride.
Before you go
- Get a Karwa bus card or buy a ticket in the Karwa app. Drivers don't take cash. See the Karwa card guide for prices and where to buy.
- Plan your trip in the Karwa journey planner app or the Sila app, which show routes and live buses.
- Find your route: every route and stop is on our Doha bus routes page.
On the bus
- Tap in on the reader when you board and tap out when you get off, so the right fare is charged.
- Check the route number and destination on the front of the bus.
- Bus stop locations in our data are approximate, so go by the stop name.
Fares
Most city trips cost QAR 3. Longer and regional routes cost QAR 9. The free Metrolink feeder buses from Metro stations cost nothing, but you tap a Metro travel card. See how the network works.
Useful routes
- From the airport: T612 and T613 run 24 hours. See the airport guide.
- From Metro stations: 61 free Metrolink routes.
- Outside Doha: regional R routes to towns such as Al Khor, Dukhan and Al Ruwais.
Tips
- In summer, plan with the app so you don't wait long in the heat.
- Keep enough credit on your card for the return trip.
- Children and seniors may get reduced fares; ask Karwa about eligibility.
