Kuwait Bus App: CityBus (Citybuskw), KPTC and Other Apps for Bus Routes
Kuwait bus apps: the Citybuskw app for live arrivals, journey planning and tickets, what to use for KPTC buses, and an offline route finder.
The main bus app in Kuwait is Citybuskw, from CityBus. KPTC doesn't have a passenger app that we could find. This guide covers what each option does, and what to use for KPTC routes.
Citybuskw (CityBus)
Citybuskw is CityBus's official app, published by City Group, in English and Arabic (App Store). CityBus says to search for "Citybuskw" on Google Play or the App Store (CityBus). It's free, and you can use it to:
- see when the next buses are due at a stop, on a map of the network
- plan a journey, with the suggested buses, where to change and the fare
- buy tickets and passes, and show them as a QR code that you scan on the bus
- top up the app's e-wallet by KNET, card or Apple Pay, or with cash from a CityBus inspector
- see your trip and payment history
The app covers CityBus routes. It doesn't sell KPTC tickets. CityBus says the app can't send alerts when a bus is arriving, so check the arrival times before you leave. Reviews on the App Store mention arrival times that don't match the bus, so allow some extra time.
For prices and passes, see Kuwait bus fares and passes.
Is there a KPTC app?
We couldn't find a KPTC passenger app on the App Store, and KPTC's website doesn't mention one. KPTC's site says it's still under development (KPTC). For KPTC timings and passes, call the hotline on 1880001, or follow KPTC's Facebook page, where it posts service news and offers.
If you see an app called "KPTC" in a store, check who the developer is before you pay for anything or enter card details.
Route finders that work offline
Our free Kuwait Bus Route app has the same route and stop lists as this site and works without an internet connection (Google Play). It covers KPTC and CityBus routes, but it doesn't show live times or sell tickets. On this site, the Kuwait route finder and the bus stops near me page do the same in a browser.
Our downloads page has route maps and guides you can save to your phone.
