An Umrah package from Kuwait by bus is the cheapest way most residents travel to Makkah and Madinah. A licensed agency sells one price for the coach, the hotels and help with the visa and Nusuk permit. This page explains what those packages include, what they cost in the adverts we've seen, and the rules for the 2026/27 season.

What a bus package costs
Agencies advertise bus packages on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. In the adverts we've seen for 2025 and 2026, a 6-day trip starts at about 55 to 78 KD per person, and a 10- or 11-day trip at about 85 to 98 KD. Some adverts add a one-year visa for a higher price. Ramadan departures and hotels close to the Haram cost more.
Most of the difference between packages comes from three things: the number of nights, how far the hotels are from the Haram, and how many people share a room. Ask for the hotel names and the walking distance, not just "near the Haram".
What's usually included
A standard bus package covers the return coach from Kuwait, shared rooms (usually triple or quad) in Makkah and Madinah, help with the visa, and the Nusuk permit and bookings. Some add visits to sites such as Masjid Quba and Mount Uhud, and many send a group leader with the bus.
Meals are usually not included, and neither are personal expenses. Check whether the coach has a toilet, and how many stops it makes.
The visa and the Nusuk permit
Since mid-2025, Saudi Arabia has let residents of GCC countries, including Kuwait, perform Umrah at any time of year. Residents can enter on an Umrah visa through Nusuk, or a tourist eVisa (Madhyamam).
Whatever the visa, every pilgrim needs an Umrah permit on Saudi Arabia's Nusuk platform, and the same permit is used for a Rawdah visit in Madinah. Ask your agency to show you that your permit and bookings appear on Nusuk.
Season dates and the Hajj pause
For the 1448 season, Umrah visas started again on 31 May 2026. The last date to issue an Umrah visa is reported as 9 March 2027, with entry by 23 March and departure by 7 April 2027 (Wego). These dates come from a travel site, not the ministry, so confirm them on Nusuk.
Before Hajj, Saudi Arabia pauses Umrah. In 2026, Umrah permits for GCC citizens and residents were stopped from 18 April to 31 May (Khaleej Times). Expect a similar pause before Hajj 2027, and avoid booking a bus trip that overlaps it.
The journey
Kuwait to Makkah is about 1,450 km by road, so the bus takes most of a day each way, longer with rest stops and border traffic. The main road crossings into Saudi Arabia are at Al Khafji and Al Ruqai (SPA). Keep your passport and Civil ID with you rather than in the luggage hold. Ask the agency where the bus stops for the Miqat, and pack your Ihram in your hand luggage.

- What's the total price, and what isn't included?
- Which hotels, how far from the Haram, and how many people per room?
- Will my permit and bookings show on Nusuk, and when?
- What are the departure and return dates, and what happens if the trip is cancelled?
